Family Child Care Nutrition

Youth & Family Services has sponsored the Child & Adult Care Food Program since 1984. The CACFP is a program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The program offers support to family and group family child care providers by reimbursing them for serving healthy meals and snacks, and providing assistance in meal planning, meal preparation, nutrition and child development.

The program also helps promote positive food attitudes and healthy eating habits, and helps providers understand the role nutrition plays in children's physical, mental and social health.

YFS sponsors the program in 18 counties in western South Dakota. Any registered/licensed family or group family child care provider may participate. For more information, call 341-7205 or 1-877-394-9498 (toll-free).
