The Bean Sprout
Integrating a coffee counter into the Middle School Program was a specific request from the middle school students during the planning phase of this program. Thanks to support from The Bean Counter—a locally owned and operated not-for-profit coffee shop—and it’s manager Ray Graff, YFS’ Middle School Program has been able to set up their coffee counter and receive training on how to safely and appropriately prepare drinks for staff and youth enrolled in the program.
The Bean Sprout helps teach youth about entrepreneurship, business administration, and financial literacy. Youth are also learning valuable job skills in a safe, monitored environment. Additionally, youth learn about kitchen safety, math, and science.
