The Girls Inc. Experience
At the heart of Girls Inc. is a comprehensive approach to whole girl development —the Girls Inc. Experience. We have long known through daily observation, as well as internal evaluation, that the Girls Inc. Experience has positive and lasting effects for the girls who participate.
Recognizing girls continue to face tremendous challenges, we as a community must invest in and expand what works. Girls Inc. makes a real and lasting impact on the lives of girls. We have the outcomes to prove it. We know how to help girls overcome obstacles and thrive — and we are determined to be a part of the solution.
WHAT WE DO
Girls Inc. of Rapid City offers safe spaces and programming that address the unique challenges girls face. Here, girls are equipped with the skills to effect positive changes in their lives and to become leaders, now and in the future.
OUR FOCUS
From the very beginning, Girls Inc. has had a singular focus: to equip girls and young women to reach their fullest potential and become strong leaders.
Across the decades, Girls Inc. has adapted to meet the specific barriers they face. We know that when girls are healthy, have the resources and opportunities to learn, and have the confidence and skills to speak out — that’s when girls succeed.
Operation SMART
Operation SMART helps develop girls' enthusiasm for and skills in science, math, and relevant technology. Through hand-on activities, girls can explore, ask questions, persist, and solve problems.
Literacy Support and Homework Help
All girls are eligible to receive extra hands-on activities and support to increase their skills and help them form good study habits. Girls have access to mentors, a library, and a computer lab to help them achieve their academic goals.
Girls Inc. Bill of Rights
• Girls have the right to be themselves and to resist gender stereotypes.
• Girls have the right to express themselves with originality and enthusiasm.
• Girls have the right to take risks, to strive freely and to take pride in success.
• Girls have the right to accept and appreciate their bodies.

• Girls have the right to prepare for interesting work and economic independence.
